7 Common Plumbing Problems In Your Home That Can Be Avoided

Maintenance in and around the house is something that quickly becomes a daunting task for some homeowners in Suffolk County, Long Island. Ensuring that everything functions properly demands that you monitor them closely. The same goes for the plumbing as well. The pipe works and drain system in your home can face different issues that can turn into costly problems if not fixed. Below are some of the common plumbing issues and how you can avoid them.

1. Overflowing Toilet

An overflowing toilet is always a nightmare for any homeowner, especially when they flush and see the bowl filling up instead of it washing down into the drains. The problem can be some
objects were flushed down by the kids and clogged up the waste pipes. To avoid such issues, educate your kids on the acceptable products that can be washed in the toilet. Keep the toilet clear of different object and have the lid closed whenever the toilet is not in use.

2. Faucet Problems

Dripping faucets are not an uncommon issue in most homes. However, they can lead to the costly wastage of water and be the reason for some water damage. You should inspect your taps at least once at the start of every season to ensure the washers are working as they should when you close the taps; they should be shut tight with no water dripping.

3. Leaking Pipes

Leaking pipes, if not fixed, ultimately lead to costly water damages to your property. The pipes in your home need routine maintenance checks and repairs, and this should mostly be done at the start of the winter season.

4. Running Toilet

A toilet that is running continuously is yet another hellish experience that worries most homeowners. In most cases, the issue is attributed to a leak in the toilet tank. Inspecting the tanks
regularly can help avoid such a problem. Check the water level to see if the fill valve works and that the water will not continue flowing down into the bowl after flushing. Everything should return to its current position when the toilet tank is full of water.

5. Clogged Drains

In most cases, the drains in your home are designed to handle liquid waste. However, the items that people wash down their sinks in the kitchen and bathroom can clog the drainage. You can avoid such plumbing problems by having designated disposal options for particular waste and placing a strainer in your sink to filter solid waste from washing down into the drains.

6. Small Space

Jamming too many water pipes and fixtures in one space is unprofessional plumbing. It makes maintenance inspections and repairs challenging to execute since it is hard to reach every part of the plumbing system. Always ensure that the area designated to house the plumbing has ample room for all the piping so that the system runs without any glitches.

7. Low Water Pressure

All homeowners hate having low water pressure. The problem can be with the municipality have a low water supply, or there may be a hidden issue inside the piping in your home. To avoid such issues, you should do your best to maintain a few fixtures and appliances the involve the use of water.
